Kentucky absentee ballot requests deadline set for October 20
The deadline for Kentucky residents to request absentee ballots for the November General Election is October 20 at 11:59 p.m. Fayette County Clerk Susan Lamb noted that absentee voting provides an opportunity for those who are ill, out of town, or facing other special circumstances to participate.
To be eligible, voters must meet specific criteria, including being covered under the Kentucky Uniform Military and Overseas Act, being a student living outside their county of residence, or being an incarcerated individual not convicted of the crime they are charged with. Other eligible groups include voters temporarily living outside Kentucky, those absent on Election Day and during early voting periods, participants in the crime victim address confidentiality program, and individuals unable to appear at polls due to age, disability, or illness.
Completed ballots must be returned to the local county clerk’s office by 6 p.m. on Election Day, November 3. Voters may submit ballots via mail or through provided ballot drop boxes. The upcoming mid-term election includes several key races, such as the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Mitch McConnell.
