Kentucky Court of Appeals upholds felony conviction of Kenton County man

The Kentucky Court of Appeals has upheld the conviction of Kevin Master, 33, on 20 felony counts of possessing child sexual exploitation material. Master received a 10-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.

The investigation, conducted by federal law enforcement and the Kentucky State Police, began after a child sex doll was mailed to Master’s address in Kenton County. During the legal proceedings, Master appealed the legality of the search of his electronic devices, arguing that the possession of the doll did not justify such a search. The appellate court rejected this argument, upholding the investigation and prosecution.

The case follows 2024 legislation passed by the Kentucky General Assembly that outlawed the possession of child sex dolls and AI-generated child sexual abuse material.
