Kentucky State football reaches No. 1 in HBCU Division II poll

The Kentucky State University Thorobreds football team has reached the No. 1 ranking in the HBCU Division II Coaches Poll. The team holds a 4-1 record following a 24-16 road victory over Albany State, which ended a 12-game losing streak against the Golden Rams and marked their first win against the opponent since 2003.

Head coach Felton Huggins Jr. has led the program to a strong two-year run, with the team winning 13 of their last 16 games. Following the win over Albany State, the Thorobreds moved up from the No. 2 spot, overtaking Benedict, which fell to No. 5.

Kentucky State is currently preparing to face Edward Waters in Jacksonville, Florida, as part of their pursuit of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) championship.
