Kentucky Turf Cup offers $2 million purse and Breeders’ Cup berth

Kentucky Downs will host the $2 million Kentucky Turf Cup on September 5. The Grade 2, 1.5-mile grass race serves as a “Win and You’re In” qualifier for the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Turf scheduled for October 31 at Keeneland.

The race features a 10-horse field including international and domestic competitors. Notable runners include the morning-line favorite Burnham Square and defending champion Ole Crazy Bone. European mare Tiffany, trained by Sir Mark Prescott, enters as a significant threat following a Group 1 win in Germany. Other competitors include Dresden Row, an ultra-consistent runner with 19 career starts without finishing outside the top three, and Desvio.

The Kentucky Downs turf course is noted for its unique, undulating pear-shaped design, which often favors horses with previous experience at the venue.
