Kentucky universities launch new artificial intelligence degrees

The University of Kentucky and Murray State University have launched new artificial intelligence degree programs for the fall semester. These programs aim to address workforce shifts and increasing student interest in AI applications across various sectors.

At the University of Kentucky, the program focuses on understanding the effects of AI and its appropriate implementation. Professor Brent Harrison noted that the degree is intended to help educate the populace to make better decisions regarding AI systems. The program currently has approximately 30 students enrolled, with goals to expand to 200.

Murray State University is also introducing the degree to its computer science and information systems curriculum. Professor Matthew Tennyson expressed hope that the program will attract new students while also allowing existing computer science students to specialize in AI.
