Kentucky volleyball sweeps Utah State in season opener
No. 3 Kentucky swept Utah State 3-0 in their volleyball season opener at the Historic Memorial Coliseum. The match, part of the Bluegrass Battle, saw the Wildcats win with set scores of 25-13, 25-14, and 25-17.
Kentucky displayed high efficiency, particularly in the first set where they maintained a 100 percent side-out percentage. Brooklyn DeLeye led the Wildcats with 16 kills, hitting .600, while middle blocker Lizzie Carr contributed nine kills with a .583 hitting percentage. Sophomore setter Kassie O’Brien recorded 33 assists.
Utah State struggled offensively against the Wildcats' defense, finishing the match with a .117 hitting percentage and recording no hits in the final set. The event also featured the unveiling of Kentucky’s 2025 NCAA Tournament runner-up banner.
