Kentucky Wildcats defeat Vanderbilt 34-17 to take SEC lead

No. 12 Kentucky overcame an early 10-0 deficit to defeat Vanderbilt 34-17 at Kroger Field on Saturday night. Led by quarterback Kenny Minchey, who recorded 203 passing yards and a touchdown alongside a rushing touchdown, the Wildcats scored 21 consecutive points to secure the victory.

The win improves Kentucky's record to 7-1 and 5-1 in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), moving them into sole possession of first place in the league standings, a half-game ahead of No. 5 Georgia. The victory also marks a significant turnaround from last year's loss to the Commodores and secures a winning SEC record for the Wildcats for the first time since 1977.

Despite Vanderbilt dominating time of possession in the first quarter, the Kentucky defense stifled the Commodores' run game, holding them to just 15 rushing yards. Following the win, the AP Poll moved Kentucky up to No. 9 in the national rankings.
