Kenya advances digital inclusion with locally assembled devices

Kenya's Universal Service Advisory Council, chaired by Hon. James Ongwae, visited the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) Device Assembly Plant to review progress on locally assembling digital devices. The initiative, coordinated with the Universal Service Fund and the Communications Authority of Kenya, aims to deploy Digital Hubs across underserved communities, making technology more affordable and expanding access to the digital economy.

Stakeholder discussions highlighted the role of government, academia and industry partnerships in fostering local innovation and supporting Kenya’s broader goal of a more inclusive digital economy.
