Kenya advances digital infrastructure through skills training and smart-city technology

Kenya is advancing its digital infrastructure and urban management capabilities through technological integration and skills training. In Keiyo South, 330 young people completed a digital literacy program delivered via the Huawei DigiTruck, a solar-powered mobile unit designed to bring hands-on training to remote communities. The initiative supports the Kenyan government’s National Digital Superhighway and last-mile fiber infrastructure goals.

Parallel to these literacy efforts, China’s smart-city models offer insights into integrated urban management. Companies like Dahua Technology utilize interconnected systems of cameras, sensors, and artificial intelligence to feed real-time data into central command centers. This model includes specialized hardware, such as the DH-MPT350 5G mobile terminal, which allows field officers to transmit video, photos, and location data directly to central platforms to coordinate emergency and municipal responses.
