Kenya advances economic support through women's loans and infrastructure

In Kenya, new economic initiatives are targeting both entrepreneurship and agricultural infrastructure. Co-operative Bank of Kenya has introduced the Msamaria Women’s Loan, providing unsecured financing between Sh5,000 and Sh10 million to women-owned businesses. The loan includes repayment periods of up to 24 months and is paired with training, networking, and insurance benefits such as medical and accident cover. Digital access is also available via USSD and the MCo-op Cash App.

Separately, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has emphasized the importance of agriculture and infrastructure for national industrialization. During a visit to Kiambu County, Kindiki noted that approximately 1,400 kilometers of roads are under construction at a projected cost of Sh132 billion. These projects, along with the construction of 29 fresh produce markets, aim to improve the farm-to-market supply chain. Additionally, work on the Rironi-Naivasha section of the Rironi-Mau Summit Superhighway is nearing completion, with plans to dual the Muthaiga-Kiambu road currently in advanced stages.
