Kenya and Ghana Public Service Recruitment Scams Prompt Official Warnings

Kenya's National Youth Service (NYS) issued a warning after fraudsters began posing as recruitment officials for cadet and private positions. The service urged applicants to use only verified NYS channels, avoid any payments or sharing personal information, and report suspicious contacts. It noted similar recent scams, including a false online advertisement for the Nyota Project.

Ghana's Education Service (GES) similarly warned teacher recruitment applicants that scammers are making extortion calls, demanding money to keep a successful status. GES stressed that no individual or caller can alter a candidate's recruitment outcome and that official results are based on a master list. The agency listed its legitimate communication channels and advised applicants to disregard any unofficial demands.

Both agencies emphasized that recruitment results cannot be changed by payment, urged vigilance, and directed the public to report fraudulent activity through official avenues.
