Kenya and Sri Lanka authorities warn motorists of traffic fine scams

Authorities in Kenya and Sri Lanka have issued warnings to motorists regarding fraudulent schemes targeting traffic fine payments and government services.

In Kenya, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) alerted the public to a scam involving a fake website (govpenalize.eu.cc/ken) and specific phone numbers (+254 731500713 and +254 754981677). The NTSA advised citizens to use only official platforms, such as the eCitizen service portal, to access services.

Similarly, the Sri Lanka Police warned motorists about fraudulent text messages that impersonate the Traffic Police. These messages instruct recipients to make online payments for alleged traffic violations. Police advised the public to refrain from clicking links in unsolicited messages and to verify any notifications through official hotlines or local police stations.
