Kenya dominates Safari Sevens 2026 rugby competitions

Kenya’s national rugby teams secured major victories at the 28th edition of the Safari Sevens at Nyayo National Stadium. In a unique men’s final, the Shujaa defeated the Kenyan development side, the Morans, 24-5 to claim their sixth consecutive title.

The Shujaa reached the final after a series of challenging matches, including a draw against South Africa’s Forward Legends and victories over Scotland and Uganda. Despite losing star player Samuel Asati to an early red card, the Shujaa regained control in the second half with tries from Rayvon Ambale, Victor Mola, Festus Shiasi, and John Okoth.

In the women’s circuit, the upcoming 2026 Rugby Africa Women’s Cup is scheduled for November 7-8 at Nairobi’s RFUEA Grounds. Twelve national teams will compete for Africa’s single qualifying spot in the World Rugby SVNS Division 3. The tournament features Kenya’s Lionesses in Pool B alongside Tunisia, Ghana, and Egypt, while defending champions South Africa lead Pool A.
