Kenya Hosts Inaugural U18 Hockey5s Africa Cup with Ghana Women’s Team Competing

From August 6‑8, 2026, Nairobi’s Sikh Union Club will stage the first U18 Hockey5s Youth Africa Cup. The three‑day tournament features five nations—Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa and Uganda—competing in the fast‑paced Hockey5s format. The event serves as Africa’s qualifier for the inaugural FIH Youth Hockey5s World Cup slated for December 2026 in Cairo.

Ghana’s under‑18 women’s team is the sole Ghanaian entry, aiming to secure one of the limited World Cup spots against the other participating nations. Kenya fields both men’s and women’s sides, while the other four countries field teams in both genders. The competition offers young athletes a first taste of international play and a pathway to senior national selection.
