Kenya Hosts Zimbabwe Defence Delegation and Holds Diplomatic Footprint Dialogue

The National Defence University‑Kenya (NDU‑K) hosted a delegation from the Zimbabwe Staff College Joint Command and Staff Course. The visit focused on benchmarking defence and security studies, discussing the link between economic development and national security, and strengthening Kenya‑Zimbabwe relations. Vice‑Chancellor Lieutenant General David Tarus highlighted the need for strategic leaders to address traditional and emerging threats such as terrorism, cyber insecurity and climate‑related risks.

Separately, the University of Nairobi partnered with the Kenya Foreign Service Academy to convene a high‑level policy dialogue on Kenya’s diplomatic footprint. Policymakers, academics, retired ambassadors and officials from the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs examined how Kenya’s overseas missions can be aligned with economic, trade, diaspora and cultural priorities. Opening remarks by Dr. Korir Sing’Oei and a keynote by retired Ambassador Kipyego Cheluget called for a more strategic, outcome‑focused approach to future diplomatic postings.
