Kenya ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo launches new information policy and meets Microsoft
Kenya’s Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo has gazetted the Access to Information Policy 2026. Published under Gazette Notice No. 15992, the policy aims to strengthen transparency, accountability, and public participation by providing a framework for citizens to access information held by public institutions. The policy aligns with Article 35 of the Kenyan Constitution, Kenya Vision 2030, and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
In a separate development, Cabinet Secretary Kabogo met with a Microsoft delegation led by Jeff Bullwinkel to discuss the adoption of artificial intelligence in government, cybersecurity, and digital infrastructure. During the meeting, Kabogo addressed Microsoft’s global restructuring, negotiating to protect local jobs at the company’s Nairobi engineering centre and maintain investor confidence in Kenya’s technology sector. Microsoft reaffirmed its long-term commitment to the country, and both parties intend to develop a joint action plan.
