Kenya Opens Consulate General in Guangzhou to Boost Trade with China

Kenya inaugurated its Consulate General in Guangzhou on August 4, with Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’Oei presiding. The ceremony was attended by Ambassador Willy Bett, Consul General James Muhati, senior officials from Guangdong’s Foreign Affairs Office and members of the Kenyan diaspora.

The new mission covers Guangdong, Fujian, Hainan and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, areas described as key manufacturing and innovation hubs. Kenyan officials said the consulate will deepen diplomatic, trade and investment ties, provide closer consular services for Kenyans in the region, and help Chinese businesses engage with Kenya’s market.
