Kenya police arrest suspected child trafficker and rescue four minors
A multi-agency operation led by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the Kenya Police Service, and the Administration Police Service resulted in the arrest of a suspected child trafficker in Isinya Sub-County. The suspect, identified as Enock Peterson Mwangi, also known as Mwamburi, was apprehended at the Korompoi Trading Centre.
During the operation, officers rescued four minors, aged between one and 17 years, from a bedsitter where the suspect was residing. Authorities are investigating whether the children were subjected to other forms of abuse. The minors have been taken to a hospital and subsequently placed in safe custody while relevant agencies conduct further investigations.
Preliminary findings suggest the suspect may have been operating a trafficking ring across Kajiado and Nakuru Counties, including areas such as Mashuru. Detectives are currently pursuing leads to determine the full extent of the criminal network and whether additional children have been victimized.
