Kenya police recover bodies of missing boy and woman

Authorities in Kenya have recovered the bodies of two individuals following separate missing persons cases.

In Kisumu County, the body of an eight-year-old boy, a pupil at Happy Home Academy, was retrieved from the River Nyando. The child had been missing since August 25, 2026. Officers from the Kopere Patrol Base and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) responded to the scene, with assistance from the Kenya Coast Guard Service. Police noted injuries around the child’s mouth, and an autopsy is pending to determine the cause of death.

In Nakuru, the body of Jackline Wangui Njoroge was discovered in a stone quarry in the Kogoto area of Bahati Constituency after a two-week search. Njoroge had been missing since August 14, 2026. Investigators reported that the remains showed signs of severe physical assault, including injuries to the head. Nakuru County detectives have launched a homicide investigation, utilizing mobile phone data and forensic analysis to identify the perpetrators.
