Kenya Ports Authority strengthens Mombasa port security
The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has intensified its implementation of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code at the Port of Mombasa. This move aims to strengthen security systems to ensure the safe and uninterrupted flow of international maritime trade.
As part of this initiative, more than 40 KPA security officers recently completed security awareness training and received certification. The program included practical drills designed to test preparedness, improve operational knowledge, and help personnel identify and address security vulnerabilities.
Tony Kibwana, KPA Manager of Security Services, stated that compliance with the ISPS Code is essential for protecting port operations and responding to evolving threats. He emphasized that security is a fundamental condition that enables port operations and demonstrates a commitment to maintaining a secure environment for ships, cargo, and employees.
