Kenya Power announces electricity shutdowns and service disruptions

Kenya Power has announced several scheduled service disruptions due to maintenance. On Friday, October 9, planned electricity interruptions will affect parts of five counties: Nairobi, Nyeri, Murang’a, Tharaka Nithi, and Kitui. In Nairobi, outages in Muthaiga and Utalii are expected from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting locations such as AAR Hospital, Mathari Hospital, and various government headquarters. Other counties, including Nyeri, Murang’a, Tharaka Nithi, and Kitui, will also experience daytime power interruptions.

Additionally, the company has scheduled a five-hour disruption to its telephone contact centre services on Sunday, October 11, from midnight to 5:00 a.m. While telephone-based support will be unavailable during this window, Kenya Power stated that digital communication channels, including email, social media, the *977# service, and the MyPower App, will remain operational.
