Kenya prepares transport upgrades and apiculture marathon ahead of 2027 events

Kenya is undertaking major preparations for two high‑profile events scheduled for 2027. Following its successful bid to co‑host the Africa Cup of Nations with Uganda and Tanzania, the government plans to build a railway station adjacent to Nyayo National Stadium and a spur line linking Nairobi Central station to Nyayo and Talanta Sports City Stadiums. Kenya Railways has begun evicting encroachers from the corridor, warning that any illegal structures will be demolished at the owners' risk.

In addition, the State Department for Livestock Development announced that Kenya will receive the hosting rights for the Nyuki Marathon 2027. The marathon will highlight the country's role in advancing the apiculture agenda, promoting beekeeping, pollination services, honey value‑addition and sustainable livelihoods across the region.
