Kenya President Ruto Launches Health Insurance for Community Health Workers

President William Ruto hosted health sector leaders in Nairobi to advance Kenya’s universal health coverage agenda, highlighting reforms to strengthen infrastructure, expand insurance enrollment and digitise patient records.

Ruto announced that all Community Health Promoters will be covered under the Social Health Authority, allocating Sh390 million to fund their enrollment. He said the national government will co‑finance the scheme with county governments, citing a partnership with Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja as a model for nationwide rollout.
