Kenya President William Ruto launches nationwide benefits for 106,000 village elders

President William Ruto of Kenya formally onboarded more than 106,000 village elders from all 47 counties into the National Government Administration system and announced a monthly facilitation of KSh3,000 for each elder.

He also directed the Treasury to fund health‑insurance coverage for elders and their families under the Social Health Authority, provided smartphones and AI/digital‑literacy training, and ordered a sessional paper to legally anchor the reforms, placing the elders under the Office of the President.
