Kenya Revenue Authority addresses iTax errors affecting VAT filings
The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has addressed technical difficulties reported by taxpayers attempting to file Value Added Tax (VAT) returns on the iTax platform. Users reported encountering system errors and noted that July sales and purchase invoices were not appearing in the pre-populated sections of the VAT returns.
KRA attributed these issues to network fluctuations. The authority advised affected taxpayers to attempt filing using different web browsers or to wait before trying again. Regarding missing invoices, KRA stated that the transmission of some data is still underway and requested that taxpayers allow time for the process to be finalized. The authority also cautioned users to ensure that any uploaded return files are properly validated.
These technical challenges come ahead of the August 20 deadline for filing and paying VAT for July transactions. This follows a period of high performance for the KRA Customs and Border Control Department, which recently reported a record monthly revenue collection of Ksh92.53 billion.
