Kenya security officers face fresh charges over 2022 kidnapping
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has filed 17 fresh charges against 15 officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the National Intelligence Service (NIS). The charges stem from the 2022 kidnapping of two Indian nationals and their Kenyan driver in Nairobi.
Specific allegations include kidnapping with intent to murder, conspiracy to commit a felony, forgery, and subjecting individuals to cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment. These new legal proceedings follow the High Court of Kenya's termination of previous murder proceedings related to the incident, which involved the disappearance of Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan and Mohammed Zaid Sami Kidwai.
