Kenya: Two children drown in separate incidents

A 13-year-old boy drowned in the River Thangatha in Kiamurendi Village, Tharaka Nithi County, while swimming with three other children on Sunday. Although relatives attempted to retrieve him and rushed him to the Mukothima Catholic Health Centre, medical examinations confirmed he had already passed away. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

In a separate incident in Kisumu County, a seven-year-old Grade Two pupil from Kotetni Primary School drowned in a swimming pool at the Milsview Hotel in Milimani on Saturday. The boy was swimming with other children when the incident occurred. He was rushed to Aga Khan Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. Police have documented the scene and are awaiting a postmortem examination.
