Kenyan DCI rescues abducted baby and signs child‑trafficking partnership

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kenya rescued a newborn taken from a mother in Embakasi, Nairobi, after the mother was lured by a man promising employment. The baby was recovered on July 16 and reunited with the mother, while four suspects – Callen Moraa, Frida Moraa, John Oyweri and Geoffrey Murayi – were arrested and placed in police custody.

In a related effort to curb child trafficking and sexual exploitation, DCI Director Mohamed Amin signed a Memorandum of Understanding with child‑protection group Marici Kenya. The partnership aims to strengthen investigations, build institutional capacity, support survivors and raise public awareness across the country.

Both actions reflect Kenya’s intensified focus on protecting vulnerable children and bringing traffickers to justice.
