Kenyan Deputy President Kindiki Calls for Mt. Kenya Unity Ahead of 2027 Election

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki asked former Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi to meet retired President Uhuru Kenyatta to discuss the need for unity in the Mt. Kenya region and a common political direction before the 2027 general election. He emphasized that the region’s cohesion is crucial for the Kenya Kwanza administration’s continued success.

At the Meru Dairy Farmers Field Day, Kindiki denied rumours of his ouster, urged farmers and the broader community to stay united, and announced new government support for the dairy sector: Sh100 million released for the second phase of the Meru dairy feed factory and an additional Sh100 million pledged in the supplementary budget, a reduction in feed‑bag prices, and higher earnings for dairy producers (Sh52 per litre from August 1, up from Sh50, with a bonus of Sh54). He also noted a cut in the price of sexed semen, aiming to boost farmers’ profitability.
