Kenyan Governor Irungu Kang’ata Leads County Performance Rankings

The Infotrak CountyTrak Performance Index 2026, released on 4 August, ranked Murang’a County as Kenya’s top‑performing county with an overall score of 54 percent. The county led nationally in housing, lands and settlement, social services, trade and tourism, and culture and sports.

Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata received the highest approval rating among Kenya’s 47 governors, scoring 80 percent and topping the governor rankings. Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya placed second and Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi third. Kiambu led the energy function, while Trans Nzoia was the best‑performing county in agriculture. Homa Bay topped the Nyanza region and tied for fourth nationally.

The index, compiled by Infotrak Research and Consulting, surveyed 36,200 respondents across all counties between January and May 2026, measuring resident satisfaction with devolved services such as health, housing, water management, culture, sports, and planning.
