Kenyan police probe a string of sudden deaths and a domestic murder across multiple counties
Police in Kenya are investigating several unrelated deaths in different counties. In Busia County, 52‑year‑old nurse Alexander Onyango Odongo was found dead in his rented home with no visible injuries, and his body was taken for autopsy. In Makueni County, John Munyau Kyalo, an epileptic man, was discovered dead in servants’ quarters, with investigators suspecting a fatal seizure. In Homa Bay County, the body of 59‑year‑old Charles Otieno Obudho was recovered from a stagnant pool, also showing no external injuries.
Separately, Kirinyaga East Sub‑county police are handling a murder case where 50‑year‑old Samuel Waweru Gacau was fatally attacked by his nephew during a domestic dispute. The suspect was arrested after the victim sustained multiple head and limb injuries and later died in hospital. Both investigations involve scene processing, evidence collection and pending post‑mortem examinations.
Additional unrelated deaths were reported in Kisii and Nyamira counties, but the primary focus remains on the police investigations into the Busia, Makueni, Homa Bay and Kirinyaga incidents.
