Kenyan political figures prepare for 2027 elections

Political developments are unfolding in Kenya ahead of the 2027 General Election. In Siaya, Walter Ochieng Okelo is pursuing a bid for the Senate seat. Okelo, who entered public leadership at age 28, has a background in the county assembly and served as the ODM County Organizing Secretary for ten years between 2015 and 2025.

Separately, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has criticized reports that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) might grant Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja a party ticket for re-election in 2027. Owino argued that Sakaja has historically supported political rivals of Raila Odinga in previous elections, including 2007, 2013, 2017, and 2022. Owino also reaffirmed his own intention to run for Nairobi Governor in 2027.
