Kenyan Politicians Target Gen Z Voters Ahead of 2027 Election

Senator Samson Cherargei told the Kenyan Senate that the country's Gen Z electorate will ultimately support President William Ruto in the 2027 general election. He described the young voters as indecisive, noting their recent shifts of support among various politicians such as Edwin Sifuna, Matiang’i and others, before they “move back to President William Ruto.” Cherargei praised Senator Crystal Asige for shepherding the People with Disabilities Bill into law and warned the youth to take a clear stand.

At the same time, a new political formation, the Kenya United Generations (KUG) party, was launched on 6 May 2026 at the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties. The party says its purpose is to bridge the gap between younger and older Kenyans and to present a generational‑focused platform for the upcoming 2027 elections. Governor Anne Waiguru also cautioned opponents against relying solely on social‑media metrics to gauge popular support.
