Kenya's DCI intensifies security crackdown and fraud investigations

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has intensified security measures in Nairobi and surrounding regions as part of a multi-agency framework to prepare for the 2027 General Election. Under the leadership of Regional Criminal Investigations Officer Setim Kandie, the agency is targeting goonism, misinformation, disinformation, and various forms of robbery, including motor vehicle theft and phone snatching. The DCI is also focusing on 'kazi majuu' scams to ensure a safe environment for the upcoming polls.

In a related enforcement action, detectives arrested two suspects in Narok Town for allegedly impersonating a senior government official to defraud the public. The suspects were intercepted while traveling in a black Toyota Prado, and several mobile phones believed to be used in the scam were seized. The individuals remain in custody pending investigations and court arraignment.
