Kenyatta Avenue Viaduct enters superstructure phase in Nairobi

Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has announced that the construction of the Kenyatta Avenue viaduct in Nairobi has entered the superstructure phase. Reinforced concrete piers and pier caps are now complete, and workers are currently placing precast girders to form the primary structural members of the elevated roadway.

The project is designed to alleviate traffic congestion between the Nairobi Central Business District and Upper Hill. The viaduct will bypass several major intersections, including Processional Way, Mamlaka Road, and Nyerere Road, eventually connecting near the Integrity Centre to facilitate smoother traffic flow toward Ngong Road and Valley Road.

In addition to vehicle lanes, the overpass will include pedestrian walkways and cycle lanes to improve urban connectivity and safety. The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration is providing support through security coordination and the protection of the infrastructure.
