KeolisAmey Luas takes over Dublin light rail operations

KeolisAmey Luas has officially assumed responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the Luas light rail network in Dublin. The transition, effective from 1 September, follows a contract awarded by Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) and the National Transport Authority (NTA).

KeolisAmey Luas is a joint venture consisting of a 65 per cent stake held by Keolis and a 35 per cent stake held by Amey. The seven-year contract includes an option for a further six-year extension. The new operator aims to enhance the network's reliability, resilience, and passenger experience through several planned initiatives, including the use of remote monitoring technologies, infrastructure modernization, and the implementation of optimized maintenance processes.

The Luas system is a critical component of Dublin's urban mobility, serving an average of over 165,000 passengers daily. Managing Director Tom Joyner stated that the priority is to protect the network's reputation for safety and reliability while delivering innovations to shape its future development.
