Kepez Municipality transforms flood-prone area into social park

Kepez Municipality is implementing a phased canal-side park project in the Fevzi Çakmak neighborhood to mitigate flood risks and create a social corridor. The area, which previously experienced significant flooding during heavy rainfall, is being redesigned with improved drainage systems to direct rainwater into the canal safely.

The 12,000-square-meter project includes 4,750 square meters of green space, 3,700 square meters of walkways, and a 680-meter service road. Amenities for residents include a 175-square-meter playground, a 185-square-meter fitness area, and 14 pergolas with seating. Kepez Mayor Mesut Kocagöz stated the project aims to transform a flood-prone area into a safe, usable living space for citizens.
