Kepler-452 to open DEEP Festival in Pisa with Mediterranean rescue performance

The theatrical performance ‘La Zona Blu’ by the company Kepler-452 will open the DEEP Festival at the Teatro Nuovo di Pisa on September 29. The production is based on a month-long mission in July 2024 aboard the Sea-Watch 5, a vessel engaged in search and rescue operations in the central Mediterranean.

During that mission, 156 people were rescued and subsequently landed in the port of La Spezia. The performance features a reading of diary entries and observations recorded by Nicola Borghesi, accompanied by documentary footage captured by Enrico Baraldi. The work offers a first-person account of the experience of being part of a rescue crew in the Mediterranean.
