Kepulauan Meranti officials hold legal briefing and drug seizure destruction

The Kepulauan Meranti Regency Government, in collaboration with the local District Attorney's Office, held a legal briefing for village heads and officials on October 22, 2026. The session aimed to strengthen understanding of village fund management to ensure transparency, accountability, and compliance with existing laws. Regional Secretary Sudandri Jauzah emphasized that the initiative is a strategic step toward creating clean and law-abiding village governance while minimizing financial mismanagement risks.

In a separate development, the Kepulauan Meranti Regency Government expressed appreciation for the local police following the seizure and destruction of approximately 8.85 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (sabu). The destruction process, which involved dissolving the narcotics in hot water mixed with cleaning fluid, was conducted at the Meranti Police Headquarters to ensure transparency and prevent misuse of evidence. Officials noted that the crackdown is part of a broader commitment to combat illegal drug trafficking and protect the community.
