Kepulauan Meranti Regent seeks long-term economic independence via PT Timah Tbk programs

The Regent of Kepulauan Meranti, Asmar, held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) regarding the Master Plan for Community Development and Empowerment (RIPPM) in collaboration with PT Timah Tbk. The meeting aimed to align the company’s empowerment programs with the regional development priorities of the archipelago.

Asmar emphasized that corporate programs should move beyond short-term aid to foster long-term economic independence. He urged PT Timah Tbk to focus on sectors such as MSME development, vocational skills, productive economy, fisheries, agriculture, education, health, and environmental sustainability. The local government expressed readiness to act as a strategic partner to synchronize these initiatives with the needs of the community.
