Kepulauan Meranti seeks Riau provincial support for border disputes

The Kepulauan Meranti Regency government is requesting assistance from the Riau Provincial Government to expedite the resolution of regional boundary disputes. Vice Regent Muzamil Baharudin met with provincial officials to discuss the need for legal certainty through a Ministry of Home Affairs regulation.

Baharudin noted that several boundary points require adjustment to align with current geographical conditions and field facts. The Meranti Regency government has already coordinated with three neighboring districts: Bengkalis, Siak, and Pelalawan. Support letters from these bordering regions have been prepared for submission to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Riau Provincial Secretary Syahrial Abdi expressed support for the initiative, emphasizing that resolving administrative boundaries requires communication and mutual understanding between neighboring local governments. He stated that the process must be based on factual data and legal regulations to ensure administrative certainty for all parties involved.
