Kerala authorities arrest three men for allegedly killing and eating a python
Three men have been arrested in the Thrissur district of Kerala, India, for the alleged capture, killing, and consumption of a python. Forest authorities stated that the men discovered the snake near their home in Cherukunnu but failed to contact forest officials or a licensed handler for its removal.
According to the Kerala Forest Department, the suspects—identified as Jinson Jose, 36, Jishnu, 30, and Vivek, 30—allegedly captured the animal alive, killed it, and cooked the meat to eat with friends. Investigators gathered evidence of the killing and subsequent consumption to support the case, which is being treated as a serious wildlife crime involving a protected species.
The Mannamangalam Forest Station detained the individuals following an investigation. The men underwent medical examinations and were subsequently brought before the court as formal legal proceedings continue.
