Kerala Child Rights Panel enforces national guidelines and investigates school incident

The Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has directed childcare institutions and officials to strictly adhere to guidelines established by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR). These standards cover child-friendly measures under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the Juvenile Justice Act, and the Right to Education (RTE) Act, as well as cyber safety and the protection of street children.

In a related development, the commission has registered a case following a social media video showing a student being forced to apologize during a school assembly at Vallamangalam Higher Secondary School in the Alappuzha district. The commission has requested formal reports from the school principal, the District Child Protection Officer, and the Chengannur Regional Deputy Director to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
