Bareilly woman dies following exposure to high-volume DJ music
A 60-year-old woman, identified as Kamla Devi, died in the Aliganj area of Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, after experiencing severe chest pain allegedly triggered by high-decibel music from a passing DJ system.
The incident occurred in Maholiya village while Devi was walking toward the Gauri Shankar temple. Witnesses reported that a tractor-trolley equipped with high-output sound equipment passed by, emitting intense vibrations and loud music. Devi reportedly clutched her chest and collapsed shortly after. She was rushed to a medical facility but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Local police have initiated a preliminary investigation to determine if the sound setup violated permissible decibel limits for public processions. The incident has renewed concerns regarding unchecked noise pollution and the health risks associated with high-volume sound systems used during religious and public events in the region.
