Kerala High Court rules inter-religion marriages qualify for inter-caste reservation

The Kerala High Court has ruled that inter-religion marriages must be considered eligible for reservation benefits under the inter-caste marriage category.

Justice Harisankar V. Menon made the observation during a writ petition filed by an individual seeking a farm employee position under the inter-caste marriage reservation. The case arose after an employer refused to accept a certificate documenting a marriage between a Hindu and a Christian, arguing that the union did not qualify as an inter-caste marriage due to the difference in religions.
