Kerala High Court upholds police association reorganisation and lifts stay on medical college principal transfers

The Kerala High Court declined to interfere with a single judge’s order that restructures police personnel associations in the state. The Division Bench rejected the appeal, describing the challenge as a procedural abuse and leaving the government order – which will merge the Kerala Police Association with senior officers’ groups, redistribute assets on a 60:40 basis and freeze existing elected committees – in force.

In a separate matter, the court set aside a stay imposed by the Kerala Administrative Tribunal on the transfer of seven government medical college principals. Finding no evidence of mala fide intent, the bench allowed the state’s combined promotion‑and‑transfer order to proceed, while the tribunal may continue hearing the case on remaining issues.
