Kerala launches second phase of ‘Operation Toofan’ anti-drug drive

Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has announced the second phase of ‘Operation Toofan: The Narco Hunt,’ an intensive anti-drug campaign aimed at eliminating drug trafficking in the state.

Following the initial success of the operation, the government will shift its focus toward grassroots-level awareness and community involvement. Starting September 28, a statewide outreach programme will be launched involving three-tier local governance and panchayats. This phase will utilize door-to-door engagement to educate the public on the dangers of drug consumption.

The initiative, which coordinates the Health and Excise Departments, was originally launched to overhaul the drug mafia and destroy the drug menace at its roots.
