Kerala police open investigation into sexual harassment of 13-year-old schoolgirl

Police in Pathanamthitta, Kerala, have opened a probe after a 13‑year‑old student disclosed that she was sexually harassed by several classmates. The allegations emerged during a routine school counselling session and involve incidents both on school premises and at a classmate's home.

Two separate FIRs were filed at Koodal police station, naming a total of 11 suspects – six minors (including the classmate whose house was used) and two adults, with some individuals appearing in both cases. The accused were questioned, released on notice, and will be required to appear before the investigation team. Statements will be recorded with the assistance of the Child Welfare Committee, and further inquiry will examine inconsistencies between the victim’s statements and available evidence.
