Kerala power crisis prompts calls for collective action and renewable energy innovation

Union Minister Suresh Gopi has stated that it is not the appropriate time to criticize the United Democratic Front (UDF) government regarding the ongoing power crisis in Kerala. Gopi emphasized that the current situation requires a collective approach, noting that all previous governments share responsibility for the state's energy challenges.

In response to the crisis, Kerala Electricity Minister Sunny Joseph announced that the state is examining a multi-pronged strategy to meet long-term power requirements. Due to geographical and climate-related constraints affecting conventional solar and wind projects, the government is exploring innovative solutions such as floating solar projects, pump storage facilities, and community-level battery storage systems.
