Kerala railway allocation increases tenfold to Rs 3,795 crore

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the railway allocation for Kerala has increased nearly tenfold under the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. For the 2026-27 financial year, the allocation has risen to Rs 3,795 crore, compared to Rs 372 crore in 2014.

Vaishnaw reported that projects worth more than Rs 20,000 crore are currently being executed in the state. These works include nine multitracking and new-line projects, 145 road overbridges and underpasses, and the redevelopment of 19 stations.

Over the past 12 years, the state's railway network has achieved 100 per cent electrification. Additionally, 16 stations have been redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, and six major doubling and gauge-conversion projects covering 670 km have been completed.
